The Fourier Heat Equation in Riemannian Space.
1. Let a certain body, capable of absorbing heat, occupy a region of n dimensional Riemannian space V, whose metric is defined by the positive quadratic differential form ds2 = gjj dxl dxJ. Suppose that this body is heated by conduction in any manner. The situation can be visualized as a flow of heat from the warmer to the cooler parts of the body. The rate of flow of heat within the body can b...

The growth of consumer embedded devices, where digital, analog and software components are often combined together on a single chip, results in an increase of complexity of the design and verification processes. The validation of such analog and mixed-signal systems largely relies on simulation-based techniques combined with often ad-hoc analysis methods. This thesis is motivated by the export ...
متن کاملFourier regularization for a backward heat equation ✩
In this paper a simple and convenient new regularization method for solving backward heat equation— Fourier regularization method is given. Meanwhile, some quite sharp error estimates between the approximate solution and exact solution are provided. A numerical example also shows that the method works effectively. © 2006 Elsevier Inc. Acknowledgements This work would not have been possible without the help and support of a lot of people. To my regret I will not be able to name them all here. I am very grateful to my advisors Oded Maler and Antoine Girard. They manage to give me a lot of guidance and freedom at the same time; and were always available for fruitful discussions on a wide range of subjects. I am also obliged to ...

In this Thesis, we study three problems related to the modeling of interconnects in Integrated Circuits. The common denominator among them is the use of physical arguments in order to produce efficient models that simplify the mathematical complexity of each problem. The first problem deals with a fast and accurate calculation of mutual inductance. We adopt a loop inductance formalism, wherein ...
